Location

Project location: Niterói, originally Nictheroy (hidden water, in Tupi-Guarani language), is located on the opposite side of Guanabara Bay to the city of Rio de Janiero.  The two cities are linked by a 13 km bridge and a regular ferry service.  Niterói has a population of nearly 500,000 inhabitants.  It is an interesting city in its own right and, apart from the breathtaking views across the bay towards Rio, it has some beautiful places to visit such as the stunning Museum of Contemporary Art (MAC) designed by Oscar Niemeyer; a complex of forts dating from the early 17th century;  a number of scenic Atlantic ocean beaches, as well as, numerous quality bars and restaurants to enjoy.
